June Newsletter

June is Pride Month!

Each June, we celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month. Pride Month commemorates the Stonewall Uprising of 1969, which marked a turning point in the Gay Liberation Movement and evolved into a month-long recognition of human rights and the impact that people in the LGBTQ+ community have had on our shared history. During the month, it is pretty common to see different peaceful marches protesting discrimination against gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, and heterosexual people. June also brings communities together for parties, events, festivals, parades, and many other activities.

Welcome Rylie Stone - Volunteer and HR Coordinator

RylieStone

Rylie has roots in the western United States and has called Utah home for much of his life. He is a dedicated and compassionate professional with almost four years of experience coordinating volunteers in domestic violence and sexual assault services programs. He has spent much of that time in community outreach, spreading awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault and engaging members of the community to get involved with these issues. Rylie is also passionate about the environment and previously worked in the field of healthcare sustainability—managing large-scale projects and teams of skilled individuals to achieve sustainability goals in hospitals in the intermountain west. His interests include reading, adventuring in the mountains and forests near his home, wandering the back roads of any place he visits, and exploring science, art, and history museums with his family.

Residential Services

Survivor Impact Story

Jill* entered Peace House's emergency shelter in June 2020. After a stay in the shelter, she applied for and was accepted into Peace House's transitional housing program in September. While she was living and healing in a safe transitional housing unit, she worked with a Peace House case manager and housing coordinator, who taught her life skills such as creating a budget and a housing plan for after her stay at Peace House. With the training and skills she learned at Peace House, she successfully moved into permanent housing in December 2021. She continued to work with the housing coordinator at Peace House to maintain a sustainable budget while looking ahead to broaden her personal resources and her support system. Our team works to provide wrap-around support services that can help people like Jill heal from trauma and improve their well-being, stability, and economic security.

We love to see the incredible support that the Women’s Giving Fund gives to local programs that help women and children thrive. The group awards high-impact grants to local organizations, including Peace House, and invites members to several events throughout the year. Support has gone to medical services for children experiencing abuse, early childhood education programs, transitional housing for women recovering from domestic violence, youth mentorship programs, caregivers of older adults, and more.

This powerful group of women is welcoming new members. Please consider joining in support of our community. Click here to become a member or sponsor a new member, or contact Rebecca Blanchette at Rebecca@parkcitycf.org
