Volunteer With Us
Peace House’s mission to provide survivors of interpersonal violence the most comprehensive and compassionate services possible is heavily aided by community support, especially by volunteers who give of their time and skill sets.
Volunteers at Peace House provide additional support and connection for our clients and provide respite for our full-time staff allowing them to avoid fatigue so they may continue providing high levels of care.
Ways to Volunteer
There are three types of volunteer opportunities at Peace House
Direct Services
If you’d like to work directly with survivors, our direct services opportunities may be the right fit for you. These opportunities involve hands-on support in areas such as childcare, shelter advocacy, hospital response advocacy, and housing support. Because of the close interaction, volunteers in these roles must complete a 24 or 40-hour training to ensure they are well-prepared to provide safe, informed, and compassionate support. Often, these opportunities are long-term or ongoing, so we ask that individuals consider their schedules prior to committing to this training and subsequent volunteer placement.
Indirect Services
Indirect Services opportunities are designed for those who want to support our mission more sporadically or without direct client interaction. These roles include grocery and food pickup for shelter residents, assisting at fundraising events, and helping with outreach initiatives. They are vital to our day-to-day operations, and because no formal training is required, they provide a flexible and accessible way to contribute.
Group Volunteering
If you’re part of a business, school, faith group, community organization or any other group, Group Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back together. Whether it’s through service projects, event support, or facility development, groups can make a meaningful impact while building teamwork and community spirit.
