Cut It Out
The Peace House Awareness program provides a variety of presentations to the community and to numerous organizations. CUT IT OUT, a unique presentation provided by Peace House, is a national program of the Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund. This program builds awareness of domestic violence and educates salon professionals on how to recognize warning signs, respond appropriately and safely refer clients to resources that can help them.
CUT IT OUT was originally created by the Women’s Fund of Greater Birmingham and the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence. This program is now sponsored by Clairol Professionals, The National Cosmetology Association, and Southern Living at HOME.
The CUT IT OUT curriculum teaches that 2 out of 3 incidents of sexual assault go unreported.
Salon Professionals care about their clients and meet with them regularly for years on end. Those personal connections and enduring relationships put Salon Professionals in a unique position to receive disclosures and make referrals and perhaps even ultimately reduce the number of unreported sexual assaults.
In the fall of 2018, Peace House Awareness presented CUT IT OUT to the Taylor Andrew Academy of Hair Design in Orem, Paul Mitchell The School Provo and Paul Mitchell The School Ogden.
Peace House Awareness looks forward to returning to these schools in the fall of 2019 and meet another class of Salon Professionals.
