Primary prevention is about stopping violence before it starts by changing the conditions that allow it to happen in the first place. Some might say, going "upstream" to intervene with people at highest risk for causing or experiencing harm. Primary prevention seeks to prevent individuals from becoming victims or perpetrators of domestic violence and/or sexual violence by using strategies that create healthy relationships and environments. For example, our 3 Strands curriculum teaches interactive, age-appropriate lessons covering online safety, healthy relationships, boundaries, and exploitation awareness.
